Why visit Muxía?

Ideal for those seeking peace, natural beauty, local culture, and a deeper connection with Galicia. Muxía is not just a destination — it’s an emotional experience by the ocean

Untamed nature and breathtaking landscapes

Muxía is surrounded by the raw Atlantic Ocean: cliffs, wild beaches like Nemiña or Lourido, and scenic viewpoints for unforgettable sunsets. Monte Facho and the Route of the Lighthouses offer incredible hikes by the sea.

Spirituality and legends

Muxía is one of the final stages of the Camino de Santiago and home to the iconic Sanctuary of Virxe da Barca, a magical place where Christian tradition and Galician myths intertwine. The sacred stones near the sanctuary, such as Pedra de Abalar and Pedra dos Cadrís, are part of ancient legends.

Seafaring tourism and authentic local life

Muxía’s harbor remains a hub of fishing and daily life. You can stroll along it, watch boats arrive with fresh seafood, or even join a maritime tourism experience to learn firsthand about the local trade and traditions

Coastal gastronomy

Muxía is the perfect place to enjoy the best fish and seafood on the Galician coast. Scallops, razor clams, wild sea bass, octopus, or goose barnacles — paired with a good Galician white wine — make every meal a true experience.

Festivals, art, and local culture

Throughout the year, Muxía celebrates traditional festivals such as the Romería da Virxe da Barca (in September), the Seafood Festival, and the Handicraft Fair — where music, dance, art, and local culture are always present.

Gateway to the Costa da Morte

From Muxía, you can explore nearby places like Fisterra, Cape Vilán, Ézaro, or the coastal villages of Lires and Camariñas by car or on guided tours. Each spot offers its own history and natural beauty.

Adventure, culture, and ocean at every step
